ISP Materials, Inc. – Blue Ridge Summit, PA
Lobar Engineering performed the structural design of two steel platforms supporting over 320,000 lbs of equipment each, including dust collectors that were over 25 feet tall.  The platform elevations are 34 feet above grade and 24 feet above grade, respectively.  The 24 feet high platform is located above an existing building.  The lateral loads are resisted by a combination of moment frames and bracing. The design also included the foundations and concrete pedestals to support equipment at grade level.  The design was performed for Plant Systems Engineering.

Commercial Alcohols, Inc. - Chatham, Ontario, Canada
Lobar Engineering performed the structural design for a 42 feet high, four level steel skid that supports over 80,000 lbs of equipment per the National Building Code of Canada.  The skid was fully-assembled (including the equipment) in Lancaster, PA and shipped to the site to be hoisted into place.  The cross bracing had to resist the in-place lateral loads and the torsion loads applied during the hoisting of the skid.  The design was performed for Plant Systems Engineering.

George Weston Bakeries, Inc. – Carlisle, PA
Lobar Engineering performed the structural investigation, analysis and design for a new chiller unit on the roof of the existing building.  The unit weighs approximately 15,000 lbs and is supported by a steel-frame.  Lobar Engineering performed a field investigation to help determine the best location for the unit based on the structural capabilities of the existing framing.  The design for the steel framed platform to access the chiller for maintenance was also performed by Lobar Engineering.  The design was performed in conjunction with Enginuity, LLC.

Conductive Technologies – York, PA
Lobar Engineering performed the structural investigation, analysis and design for a new steel platform on an existing joist-framed roof to support 10,000 lbs of new equipment.  The platform is supported by existing steel joist-girders that were analyzed and reinforced for the additional loading.  The design was performed for Paragon Engineering Services, Inc.

Stewartstown Borough Waste Water Treatment Plant – Hopewell Township, PA
Lobar Engineering performed the structural design for the expansion and upgrade to the existing facility.  The scope of work included the design of a metering and screening chamber, aerated grit chamber, a new treatment tank, a building, and the foundation for a lime silo.  The treatment tank is 75 feet square and 14 feet deep.  The building is concrete and load bearing masonry block with a steel joist roof structure.  The building houses equipment on the upper floor while the lower floor is for water storage.  The lime silo is supported by a concrete caisson system.  The design was performed for Paragon Engineering Services, Inc. and James R. Holley & Associates, Inc.
